You never know

Gettin' Crafty

I've been on a mild craft kick lately, so while my friends are home for spring break, we always end up making something! (beats eating 24/7 right??)Bess and I headed over to Natalie's (aka the craft queen) house one night and made these adorable little masterpieces. Bess' is pink, mine is nautical. What I love about these buckets is that they are SO easy!! All you need is scrapbook paper, a tin bucket and some mod podge! And of course some cute ribbon. Just throw some tissue paper in there and a packaged cupcake- or maybe bath salts and lotion? if you're not into the whole baking thing... and it would make the cutest gift for someone!!
This was probably one of the proudest moments of my life. I never thought I would see the day that Elle did something cute and crafty- I just didn't think it was in her blood. Joking. We went to this adorable shop in Poolesville and got some plaque inspirations and ran to the nearest Michael's craft store to make one of our own. The quote says "Kiss me before I lose my glass slippers" which is fitting what with our disney princess obsession. I took this picture before the white border along the sides was added as a final touch. I think it would look super cute with a hanging ribbon bow on top to add an extra little something. It's a good thing my mom doesn't hold back at the ribbon outlet!!

Inspiration

I bought a not-so-cheap dress today...

But I couldn't help myself. It is just too perfect. I'm not going to tell anyone how much it cost because I don't need to be guilt tripped for paying too much for a dress that's a little too small on me.
It's my weight loss inspiration dress. How did I justify buying this, you may ask? Well this is what I thought about:

"if I don't buy this dress right this second then someone a lot less deserving than me will snatch it up, wear it once, and will probably not even wear it with a headband.
If I buy it, then I could practically wear it anywhere. Even the testing center on a devotional day. I would wear this dress all the time until the dreaded day comes when I'm either too fat to wear it, or I die. Whichever comes first."

I should've played football

If you know my family then you probably know that my little brother is ALWAYS playing sports. He's convinced he's going to play football or baseball (or both) for BYU or LSU. My mom is convinced he's not. (something along the lines of "we're raising a future missionary not a sports star" and "professional football players are just over-paid neanderthals!" coming from the south I would expect a different reaction but to each their own...)
Anyway, Shayne is having his first football practice of 2011 on Wednesday and he got his pads last night. Just sitting on the counter, they were obviously just asking me to play dress up and I couldn't very well miss out on a photo op.I decided to bring some character into the picture by making the face that I usually reserve for creepy looking guys in the Metro.
I thought I pulled off the look quite well, although the orange helmet sort of clashed with my top.
Of course then Shayne tried to top me with the whole "i-actually-play-on-the-team-and-know-how-to-throw/catch-a-football" argument. Touche, Shayne.

P.S. isn't he cute??

BRAT meet PRC

I never get sick. The last time I threw up (besides last summer's pita contest...) was probably somewhere around junior or senior year of high school. Well this weekend my long running record came to an abrupt stop.
I woke up Saturday morning to blue skies and nausea. I thought it would pass, but come noon when I had to get ready to go babysit, there was no way I was getting out of my bed. At first I thought it was food poisoning from Moby Dick since that's what came... well you get it. So naturally I have banned their gyros from my diet for a VERY long time.
As time passed, I felt worse and worse and just had to admit to myself that sometimes my immune system does falter, and no, I do not have superhuman flu-fighting powers.
They say when you're sick you should stick to the B.R.A.T. diet
My problem was that we only have healthy apple sauce (AKA no sugar added, granny smith gross), I hate bananas, and I really didn't feel like throwing up 1000 of something so rice was out of the question.
So how did I solve my problem? By creating my own sick diet with a feast of 2 rice cakes and Powerade- the breakfast/lunch/dinner of champions.

After a day of pain and suffering, I'm in recovery mode and still sticking to my sweet/salty diet.

My name is Julie and I look like I'm 13

I used to look my age... like when I was ACTUALLY 14...but then something happened where I stopped aging. Some people may think of it as a blessing. I think of it as annoying because
A. people give me weird looks when I'm out and about during school hours. Um, I'm 19. I graduated 2 years ago. and
B. because my 15 year old sister looks older than me.
My life is so hard
